Paryavaran Mitra & Forest Department under the Wildlife Week Programme, Nagpur observed the Birthday of Father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi and Ex.- Prime Minster Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri by planting the 20 nos. of saplings at NIT ground, Mahalaxmi Society, Beltarodi Road, with Dr. Sanjay Mukherjee Chairman, Nagpur Improvement Trust, as the Chief Guest on the occasion.

All the seedlings were planted with the Bhangu’s root watering method. At this event Mr.A.K.Jugade (Asst. Conservator of Forest), Mr. R.S.Bhangu, Mr. Ganguli of NIT, Mr.J.P.Kantharia of Paryavaran Mitra & Mr. Kukade of Citizen Forum for Equality were also present.

Dr. Sanjay Mukherjee informed the residents of nearby area that the NIT ground is property of the community of this area and people of this area has to come forward to save it, to develop it and to maintain it.

He further stressed that with the initiative of Paryavaran Mitra Nagpur Parivar, saplings have been planted in the locality and it is the responsibility of people of surrounding areas to look after the plants to ensure they grow as big trees.

General public, including children from local and nearby areas assured to safe guard all the plants. In their commitment they have also signed a “HAMI PATRA” in which they have assured to water the plants and on “Raksha Bandhan” they will tie the “Rakhi” to the plants. In case of any damage to the plant they will inform to “Paryavaran Mitra”. The prominent persons from nearby area were Mr.Gaikwad, Mr.Kadu, Mr.Sharma, Mr.Kadasane, Mr.Khapare, Mr.Dhone; Mr.Jibhe Mr.Uthane & Mr.Khachne have signed the Hamipatra. Ladies of local area also participated in the plantation. They presented TULSI PLANT to Dr. Sanjay Mukherjee and other officials on the occasion.
